Digging deep and giving it all in everything they do Chicago’s Lubriphonic specialize in a unique offering of funky rock n’ roll. The septet’s tight and raw sound is immediately familiar, fusing the roots of soul with explosive in-your-face delivery and sensuous R&B dance music.

The Lubriphonic sound is full of precision orchestrations made up of blazing guitars, tight three piece horn lines, soulful songwriting, bluesy vocals and the habit to cut the funk loose. The best description of the band’s sound comes from Relix Magazine: “Superb, adventurous, diverse, simply mesmerizing instrumental work. Steeped in soul, rock, pop, and blues Lubriphonic’s members play with a tenacity and precision that sets them apart from equally proficient bands.”

With a smile on his face, Daniel Redmond pulls out cannon fire notes pounding the stand-up, dog house bass, and Blayne Thiebaux gives the crowd a spectacular show, burnin' rosin and bendin' air, exploding the fiddle while bursting into flames. Van Ghost

Van Ghost featuring Natalie Cressman (Trey Anastasio Band) and Allie Kral (Cornmeal)

For nearly a decade Michael Harrison Berg of Van Ghost was a behind the scenes type of guy. Having poured his energy into his ventures as a concert promoter and band manager, little was left over for personal creative endeavors. That all changed in 2007 when Berg’s close friends encouraged him to revisit the acoustic guitar he put down in his younger days and asked him to perform a song at their wedding. Melding the inspiration from the many talented bands he has worked with and his own passion for music, the singer returned to his roots. He began writing songs, drawing from his life experiences, creating a heartfelt and staggeringly honest perspective. After building up a solid repertoire of folk ballads, gritty Americana tunes and classic rock laced jams, Berg assembled an all-star cast of musicians and named the project Van Ghost.

Outside of hometown Chicago, they may be best known for high profile and excellent remixes of Daft Punk, Neon Indian, Black Moth Super Rainbow and DFA 1979.  Back home they are justly celebrated for legendary performances such as their set at last summer’s Wicker Park Fest that turned the entire neighborhood into a vast and energized dance floor, forcing even the palest and most resolutely hard-to-impress hipsters to call up their inner dance masters. Live performances combine loops, samples and Mickey Kellerman’s keyboards with Darren Heitz’s drums plus Felix Moreno’s Larry Graham-style bass slapping to create an enormously powerful groove. Their light show is as good as their music, and their set have been known to inspire dance frenzies.

Daedelus

http://www.daedelusmusic.com/

Alfred Darlington isn’t your average cookie-cutter musician. From how he looks (early Victorian Dandism), to how he makes music, to how he expresses himself and views the world, his is a very individual, a ‘bespoke’ outlook. Alfred was born in Santa Monica in 1977 to an artist mother and psychologist father.

Musical from very early on, as a child he was classically and jazz-trained in a number of instruments, but his interests were broad and varied – less a prodigy than a renaissance boy whose obsessions ranged from Greek legend to the mountains of Wales. As a 15 year old he finally persuaded his parents to take him to the Principality. Whilst in a YMCA in London he flipped the radio dial, found a pirate radio station and taped some UK rave and hardcore. “It was my first ‘Eureka!’ moment in music,” he says.

Back in the US he joined local rock bands, jazz bands and ska bands, which he enjoyed but felt limited by too.

Ryan Montbleau Band has been tending its own musical vineyard for a few years, on the patient cusp of a breakthrough. Their distinctive, long-fermenting blend of neo-folk, classic soul, and kick-out-the-jams Americana finally comes to full fruition in Heavy on the Vine. It’s an album that represents the product of — and further promise of — a very good year.

GREENSKY BLUEGRASS is one of the most exciting bands in today’s music scene. Like a breath of fresh air, this five piece band plays traditional bluegrass instruments and uses them to create original songs and soundscapes that are unique and new, yet somehow feel comfortable and familiar. Though they have been likened to ‘70s era Americana acts like The Band, Greensky would prefer not to be compared to any other bands. “We really just try to make music as a group that sounds and feels right to us”, says mandolin player Paul Hoffman, later adding that “it is nice to know that other people really dig it, too.”

Let it snap, let it roll, hand claps, drums crash, tele-tones and solos. Somewhere between a bar and the recording studio, Miles Nielsen’s stirs up his own pop rock brand of Beatles-eque Cosmic Americana. Pop rock arrangements and sunny melodies tucked between a long lost country folk steel guitar floating through speakers around crashing drums, bouncing bass lines and smooth as butter keys. Born in Rockford, IL, home of Cheap Trick and ‘Symbol’, power pop DNA runs through the veins of his songs and performances.

Punch Brothers featuring Chris Thile

http://www.punchbrothers.com/

“Antifogmatic” is a bit of bygone slang that mandolinist Chris Thile and his bandmates stumbled across, “an old term,” explains the Punch Brothers founder, “for a bracing beverage, rum or whiskey, that one would have in the morning before going out to work in rough weather, to stave off any ill effects.” It’s an apt title for the Punch Brothers’ second Nonesuch disc. This ten-song set of collectively written material takes a clear-eyed view of those things less tangible than booze that can make us woozy: the pleasures and pitfalls of romance, the seemingly limitless possibilities and multifarious temptations of life in the big city.

Cirrus Minor

www.cirrus-minor.com

Cirrus Minor is a Psychedelic Rock band whose music twists and turns through numerous genres. Their original material runs the gamut from funk to rock, reggae to disco, and blues to jazz. Live shows also incorporate significant amounts of improvisation, custom tailoring each performance to best fit the vibe of the event, as well as occasional interpretations of songs from various artists.

The creative and diverse songwriting of Cirrus Minor has gotten them invited to share bills with jammers (Widespread Panic, Blues Traveler, etc…), experimental psychedelic acts (Primus, Zappa Plays Zappa, etc…), and rockers (Green Jello, Nashville Pussy, etc…), winning over every audience. 2010 saw Cirrus Minor touring festivals and venues in 5 states (including Wakarusa, Harvest Fest, dates with Primus and Wookiefoot, etc…), and 2011 is shaping up to be bigger and better, with the release of their full-length album, return appearances at many of the fests they played in ’10, plus a new lineup that promises to add new musical possibilities and enhance what was already a critically acclaimed live show.

In early 2008, Cirrus Minor was formed as a 3 piece band by Aaron Lea (bassist), Mackenzie Fleener (drummer), and Mike Ruby (guitarist/singer), becoming a 4-piece with the addition of keyboardist Rich Cantrell shortly after their first show. The band recorded a 5 song demo, 2009’s “Awaiting Dilation”, which sold out of its initial (and only) pressing at the CD release show, and then was put online for free and downloaded over 1,500 times. In the fall of 2008, CIRRUSMINORLIVE.COM was launched to allow fans to get a free recording of any of their live concerts, since each show is unique; whether they are looking to preserve the memory of a show they were at, or to catch one they missed. After 2 years of regional touring, Cirrus Minor recently expanded to a 6 piece band, with the addition of drummer Joe Corbin (who had worked with Aaron in various metal bands for almost a decade) and guitar virtuoso Donnie Steele (who was an original member of Slipknot), with Mackenzie moving to auxiliary percussion and samples to accommodate the expansion.

Cirrus Minor is a band with the rare ability to jam the jam crowds, rock the rock crowds, and go smoothly from shaking people’s butts to melting people’s faces in any setting. Their years of hard work and overall quality of their musicianship has garnered them a regional fan base, well over 8,500 friends on Facebook and MySpace, and worldwide media attention. With more shows and festival appearances planned for 2011, Cirrus Minor will continue to make each show a unique experience, leaving a trail of fans in their wake wherever they go.

Bill Kreutzmann can barely contain his enthusiasm for 7 Walkers, the former Grateful Dead drummer’s new band with guitarist/vocalist Papa Mali, legendary New Orleans bassist George Porter Jr., and multi-instrumentalist Matt Hubbard. “I can’t believe how much fun I’m having playing with these guys!” says Kreutzmann, who never missed a gig in the Dead’s 30 years together. “We’re making art together and having the best time.”

One listen to 7 Walkers’ self-titled debut album (Response Records / November 2, 2010) and it’s easy to understand why Kreutzmann is so pumped. With nearly all of its songs co-penned by Papa Mali and longtime Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter, 7 Walkers is an electrifying hybrid of classic Bay Area rock and New Orleans funk. Ernie Hendrickson

Born and raised in the Midwest, Ernie Hendrickson grew up on a steady diet of Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Cat Stevens, and Jerry Garcia. These early heroes opened the gates to the deep well of American roots music which he continues to draw inspiration from. In 2007 he self-produced and released a highly acclaimed solo record, Down the Road, of which the Illinois Entertainer deemed “Groundbreaking” and pushed him straight onto the Midwest’s radar as an emerging singer-songwriter. Hendrickson set the talent bar high in the studio for this album with a cast of players that included the subtle and angelic backing vocals of his sister, Kelly Hendrickson, and the legendary harmonica player, Howard Levy (Bela Fleck & The Flecktones, Paul Simon), aligned with an all-star group of Chicago musicians.

GREENSKY BLUEGRASS is one of the most exciting bands in today’s music scene.

Truth and Salvage Co.

http://www.truthandsalvageco.com/

The six musicians of Truth & Salvage Co. boast four lead singer/songwriters, each with a unique story to tell and voice to be heard. Together, they rise up from one common seed, and something bigger is made. Originally hailing from Atlanta, New Orleans, Indianapolis, Tupelo and various cities throughout Ohio, each member has roots in a different past. It’s from these diverse origins that a Company of brothers has formed, ultimately connected by the shared bond we now know as Truth & Salvage. The result is genuine American Rock ‘N’ Roll with a timeless sound and interwoven lyrical storytelling.

A staggered exodus in 2005 brought all six musicians to Los Angeles, where they met at Hollywood’s famous Hotel Café where vocalist/guitarist Tim Jones served as the venue’s talent booker. First performing together during casual late night jam sessions, they quickly discovered their chemistry was undeniable. It was on that very stage that Truth & Salvage Co. was born. The different paths that led each of them to this point engendered a remarkable range of sounds and styles. Their palette stretches from rock to country to alternative.

Big Light

http://www.biglightband.com/

San Francisco-based rock band Big Light first emerged in 2007 as a vehicle for aspiring singer/songwriter/guitarist Fred Torphy to get his songs into the world. The band would spend the next three years honing their sound and performing around the West Coast relentlessly. Now hailed as one of the fiercest young rock bands on the Bay Area scene with a growing national buzz, Big Light is poised to release its debut full-length album, Animals In Bloom, through reapandsow on March 2.

As the story goes, Torphy was inspired by his generation’s current wave of great American rock groups like My Morning Jacket, The Slip, Dr. Dog and Wilco. Joining forces with drummer Bradly Bifulco, they set out to form a band that would follow in those footsteps. “We love to experiment and keep things as weird and interesting as possible, but it all needs to come back to serve the song,” says Torphy.

Cameron Thomaz, better known as Wiz Khalifa, the son of two military parents has always had his eye on being a new standard by which cool is measured. Rapping since the third grade and starting to record music at 14 was probably a step in the right direction. The next best move? Inking a deal to Rostrum Records after a meeting with Benjy Grinberg. fresh out of high school, it was time to either sink or swim. In 2005 Wiz released his first mixtape, “Prince of the City: Welcome to Pistolvania.” The mixtape was quickly accepted by the local scene and began to gain buzz outside of Pittsburgh. With that excitement growing by the day, it was the perfect time for a proper commercial album. Wiz soon dropped “Show and Prove,” which Okayplayer.com claimed was “arguably the best album of the year.” The accolades began piling up and Khalifa was receiving significant co-signs from XXL, Rolling Stone, and VIBE, alike. A deal with Warner Bros. Records soon followed.

Slightly Stoopid

http://www.slightlystoopid.com/ss.php?skin=2

With more than a decade of making music together, the members of Slightly Stoopid have perfected one of the rarest and most valuable skills a band can develop: the art of the stealth groove, that knack for quietly, almost innocently, sliding into a composition, and utterly lassoing anyone within earshot by mid-song. That’s where the band has come to reside, musically: deep in the pocket, that ever-elusive, funky trench where a band can entrance an audience, hypnotize it and hold on to it until the set or CD is finished. Built on a bedrock of nasty, oceanic slabs of dubby bass, meditative vocal harmonies, rock-steady guitar licks and tightly syncopated percussive rhythms, Slightly Stoopid illustrate a case study in underground success, steeped in years of hard touring, an improvisational business model, and a creative process that continues to unwind and push the envelope of a new jam-based genre the band helped to create.

Future Rock

http://www.futurerock.net/

Chicago’s own Future Rock have carved out a category largely their own, adding drifting elements of Krautrock and space rock to rhythmic textures that reference Motorik, funk and four-on-the-floor disco.

Celebrating 10-plus years of sample-obsessed production and relentless touring, Gregg Gillis returns with All Day, his fifth album as Girl Talk, and his most epic, densely layered, and meticulously composed musical statement to date. Continuing the saga from the previously acclaimed albums, Night Ripper and Feed The Animals, Gillis lays down a more diverse range of samples to unfold a larger dynamic between slower transitions and extreme cut-ups. With the grand intent of creating the most insane and complex “pop collage” album ever heard, large catalogs of both blatantly appropriated melodies and blasts of unrecognizable fragments were assembled for the ultimate Girl Talk record (clocking in at 71 minutes and 372 samples).

Keller Williams (KDubalicious)

http://www.kellerwilliams.net/

Most artists would bristle at the term self-indulgent, but Keller Williams often invokes it in describing his own approach to music. To Williams, being self-indulgent means creating music that satisfies him—if he likes what he’s produced, he figures, then his audience is more likely to embrace it too. If he’s not happy with it, why would they be?

And so, when Williams describes his first-ever all-covers collection, the amusingly titled Thief, as “self-indulgent, like all of my albums,” that signifies not an inwardly pointed diss but a thumbs-up from one of the most tireless musical seekers around. Recorded with the Keels—husband and wife duo Larry and Jenny Keel—Thief is a sequel to the trio’s 2006 collaboration Grass, and to those of us on the receiving end, there’s nothing self-indulgent about it. If anything, it’s about as accessible and welcoming a record as Keller’s ever made.

Digital Beat Down is a live electronica duo that fuses synthetic textures and organic instrumentation to create dance friendly compositions with a prog-rock twist. The distinctive feature of Digital Beat Down is their ability to draw on the ethos of the DJ culture while still providing the intangible live band experience. The duo thrives on creating carefully crafted songs and multi-layered live looping jams that invite the listener on a psychetronic journey through the depths of dirty Drum & Bass, to smooth Deep House, to Crackin’ Breaks, or finished off by their bone penetrating brand of sub bass driven Dub-Step funk.

The duo was formed in Denver, CO in the fall of 2008, by Andrew Lubner on (drums and samples) and Nick Pilz on (synths, samples and loops). Digital Beat Down is a high energy attack. Lubner mounts a relentless assault on the drums and sampler pad, and Pilz thumps the low end while he warps and weaves the dark melodies and subtle textures that define the band. In their first year, Digital Beat Down broke in to the Denver/Boulder scene and successfully toured throughout Oklahoma, Arkansas, Illinois, and Wisconsin. With explosive live shows and a tenacious drive, the band is poised to explode on to the national scene and beyond.

The Hog Slop String Band is a Nashville based old time string band comprised of seven energetic young musicians hailing from Georgia, Tennessee, California and North Carolina.  Featuring Casy Meikle and Kevin Martin on fiddles, Graham Sherrill on banjo, Gabe Zorbanos on guitar, Robert Hardy (RH) Dyar Jr. on mandolin, Daniel Allen Frazier Jr. on washboard and Casey McBride on the washtub bass, these boys surely raise a ruckus.

Upon forming as a pickup square dance band in the summer of 2009, The Hog Slop String Band has since become one of the most sought after old time string bands of the Tennessee Valley area.  Known for their outrageous facial hair and a rollicking repertoire heavily based on Georgia and Middle Tennessee fiddle tunes, these boys have provided entertainment for fashion shows, political conventions and whiskey distilleries as well as countless weddings, parties and soirees.

The Math Games Trio is an electronica jazz/funk groove band perfect for festival rave or night club settings. It is Fareed Haque’s latest project and it will be bringing their hip new sound to the road. Moog guitar enthusiasts will not want to miss this band, as the new and innovative instrument will be Fareed’s ax of choice for shows. Math Games will be playing as a trio, as Flat Earth Ensemble members Alex Austin and Greg Fundis bring their talent and flair to the mix.

Steez

http://www.creepfunk.com/

Categorization be damned, the Madison-based five piece, Steez, consisting of Matt Williams (keyboards/synthesizers/accordion), Steve Neary (guitar and vocals), Rob Bessert (drums), Chris Sell (bass), and Andrzej Benkowski (saxophone, oboe, and violin) is — in the simplest terms and the most convenient definitions – a funk band, a jamband, a fusion band, a disco-fanged multi-beast, and a basket case.

Churning out their self-described Creepfunk, a high energy, danceable variety of funk — one uniquely laced with electronic and improvisational sensibilities – Steez has garnered a loyal following throughout the Midwest. After receiving repeated acclaim for their live performances, which typically include a seamless weaving of thoughtfully composed originals and crowd pleasing covers spanning from Madonna to clever obscurities like Genialistid (Estonia), Steez hit the studio and released their first full length album, Creepfunk Crusade, in August 09 with independent label, Mason Jar Records.

Oliver and Chris Wood grew up in Boulder, Colorado. Sons of a Poet and a Microbiologist, they both took up music. Oliver moved to Atlanta and became a southerner. Chris moved to New York City and became a Yankee. Now, after years of musical and geographical separation they have reunited.

While in Atlanta, Oliver soaked up the roots of blues, the soul of the south, and found he had a talent for writing and singing songs. His band, King Johnson (named after Freddy King and Robert Johnson) toured mostly in the southern states. Meanwhile, Chris was living in Manhattan playing everything from free jazz to rock and roll. This is where he met his band mates to form Medeski Martin & Wood.

June 17, 2011 marks the 40th Anniversary of President Richard Nixon's declaration of a war on drugs. Since then, America's prison population has become the largest in the world and over 1.6million arrests for drug offenses are made each year - half of those arrests being for marijuana. It’s also become a war on music lovers. The Rave Act continues to target the electronic music scene and festivals like Camp Zoe have been shut down. Students for Sensible Drug Policy will host a discussion to inform participants about all aspects of the drug war, alternatives to current policies, and how you can get involved. Please join the discussion, " A War on Us: Why the war on drugs effects everyone", on Saturday from 4:30-5:30pm in the Soulshoine Tent.

Ella Riot (formerly My Dear Disco)

http://dancethink.com/

Ella Riot calls it “Dancethink Music.” Some might call it high-brow guilty-pleasure dance music.

At the end of the day, it’s hard to find a genre to apply to a band of music degrees shamelessly enamored with catchy hooks, who sing through a giant megaphone in French, shred Van Halen on electrified Irish bagpipes, write 80′s tribute dance-rock anthems in 5/4, and re-sample themselves doing it live — all to create a modern-day musical Frankenstein that will pull even the most self-conscious listener on to the dance floor.

Formerly named My Dear Disco, the band is continuing a musical metamorphosis that ultimately resulted in its new name. Ella Riot symbolizes not only the “Dancethink” sensibility cultivated with their fans over the past three years, but also the full-out explosion of expression, sound and movement their live shows are widely known to generate.

Chicago:  a city known for its blues and its bluegrass. In the bluegrass history books, a pivotal stop, among others, along the road to success for the Monroe Brothers and, in more current times, noteworthy as home base for the long popular Special Consensus. And now, the Windy City serves as a critical intersection in the lives of five musicians, two who hail from Illinois and the others from as far and near as North Carolina, upstate New York and Missouri.

With a PBS series soundtrack already to its credit and a sophomore recording in the works, The Henhouse Prowlers have been barnstorming on to the red hot bluegrass scene since 2004. A couple of personnel shifts later, in 2007 the roughly thirty-something quintet made the commitment to go the distance, to be a full-time touring bluegrass band.

After their college years, the brothers wished to hone their music theory and technique skills, and in 2001, they formed a jam band called Stone Samadhi, whose sound Eric described as “high energy, really weird jazz stuff”.

The New Mastersounds are a four-piece band based in Leeds, England, whose modern take on vintage soul-jazz, funk and rock draws influences from Jimmies McGriff, Smith, and Hendrix, as well as their most closely-associated mentors, The Meters. Their first single, One Note Brown, was released on Blow It Hard Records in 2000 and was passionately championed by acclaimed Northern Soul and funk DJ Keb Darge. To date, the band has released four studio records: 102%, This Is What We Do, Be Yourself, Keb Darge Presents… as well as The New Mastersounds Re:Mixed, and Live At La Cova. BÉLA FLECK is often considered the premiere banjo player in the world. A New York City native (named after composer Béla Bartok), he picked up the banjo at age 15 after being awed by the bluegrass playing of Flatt & Scruggs. He began experimenting with playing bebop on the banjo in high school. In 1982, he joined the progressive bluegrass band New Grass Revival, where he made a name for himself in the country-bluegrass world. At the same time he was releasing a series of solo albums for Rounder Records. In 1989 he formed the Flecktones. They made their self-titled debut recording in 1990 by playing a “blu-bop” mix of jazz and bluegrass and soon became a commercially successful, critically-acclaimed and award-winning band.

As much immersed in the jam community as fans, the group continuously works to build the jam community and support live music. Stressing a fun and inclusive atmosphere, Wook shows have grown to become a must-attend party. The future is very bright for these four students from Madison, and as the group continues on their musical path, it is clear their music will constantly evolve.

Wook has burst on to the jam scene in the last year, earning a slot at the 2010 and 2011 Summercamp Music festival. Wook will also be returning for a second year at Jammin’ on the Wolf Festival, and a third year at the Grateful Garcia Gathering, which they will be headlining Saturday night! The Avett Brothers

http://www.theavettbrothers.com/us/2011tourposter

There is no harmony like brotherly harmony. Something indelible in the weave of voices and play of sensibilities is stamped into the fraternal DNA and also stems from a lifetime of shared experiences. You can hear it in classic brother acts across the musical spectrum, from the Louvin Brothers to the Everly Brothers and on down the decades through the Wilson brothers (Beach Boys), the Davies brothers (Kinks), the Allman Brothers and even the Brothers Gibb (a.k.a., the Bee Gees). You can clearly hear fraternal magic at work in the songs of Scott and Seth Avett, better known as the Avett Brothers, as well.

That magic is abundantly evident on I and Love and You, the Avett Brothers’ big-label debut. Its 13 songs are delivered in a style that defies pigeonholing but might be described as a rootsy amalgam of folk, country, bluegrass, rock and pop – even a jab of punk-style dynamics here and there. Drawn by the naked honesty of their songs and the rousing intensity of their live shows, legendary producer and talent scout Rick Rubin signed the Avett Brothers – consisting of siblings Scott and Seth, plus bassist Bob Crawford – to his American Recordings label in 2008.

Trichome

www.trichomemusic.com

Trichome takes rhythms from world and reggae music and blends them with aspects of rock, funk, and dance to create a unique sound with a smooth melodic flow. Couple that sound with tailoring unique set-lists and song transitions with each outstanding live show, the energy this band exudes is a force to be reckoned with.

Since their inception in 2005, Trichome has branched out to make a heavy dent on the already phenomenal Colorado music scene. With unique lyrics from lead singer Evan Daldegan, the driving bass lines of Dave Frediani, the piercing guitar lines from Matt Newhard, the powerful presence of Mike Windham on tenor sax and keyboards, and the hefty bari sax growl from Leah Concialdi, it makes for an explosive front line. Add in the passion of Matt Schooley on percussion and Jeff Dejohn on the drums and there is a full sound that is nothing less than transcendental.

Trichome has already gained the attention and acclaim of many by supporting major acts such as Groundation, The Original Wailers, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, Culture, Midnite, and Eek-a-Mouse. The band has also played with many of Colorado’s finest independent bands such as Juno What!?, Euforquestra, Dubskin, YAMN, Mountain Standard Time, and Good Gravy.

Trichome’s first full-length album “Where Creation Now Grows” (recorded at Colorado Sound Studios with producer Jesse O’Brien) showcases the band’s carefully crafted blend of instrumental textures and vocal harmonies.  With its release, the band looks to dig deeper into their musical exploration and continue to bring fans in with the positive force of their fresh and funky musical grooves. Trichome is certainly the band to look out for in the Colorado and national music scene.

Bassnectar is the brainchild of Lorin Ashton, and it exists as an open-sourced musical project that is as diverse as it is heavy, as raw as it is meticulous, and as fierce as it is imaginary. Spanning the spectrum of sonic style, the music covers every genre imaginable and smashes it all into a synthesis of intense, wobbling basslines and hypnotic soundscapes.

Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe

http://www.karldenson.us/

Karl Denson has led a storied career as a multi-faceted recording and performing artist who first came to prominence as a member of Lenny Kravitz’ band debuting on his first release, Let Love Rule, and staying on for the next five years. While developing a following overseas, he joined Fred Wesley’s band, touring and recording with him on multiple releases. This led to five straight ahead jazz albums by Denson on Minor Music, the last of which was released to rave reviews and featured Karl in a trio setting with Miles Davis alumni Dave Holland and Jack DeJohnette.

EOTO

http://www.eotomusic.com/

As electronic influences continue to penetrate the live rock, jazz, and jam ethos, one band consistently rises to the top, bringing together fans from across the musical spectrum.  EOTO crisscrosses the country blowing out basement dives, packed theaters, and stages under the stars.

Throbbing bass and thudding beats are the signatures of this project from drummers Michael Travis and Jason Hann.  Born out of their shared love of electronic dance music, EOTO’s M.O. is to take the free-wheeling party vibe of a DJ set to the next level by using organic instruments, innovative performance technology, and uncharted musical exploration.  Live drums, guitars, and keys, and vocals are mixed, remixed, and sampled on the fly using cutting-edge programs.  This is all done without a script, and without a net.

The Wood Brothers

 http://www.thewoodbrothers.com/
